Time for less mental clutter!

I talk a lot about having less stress and more peace. But what does that really mean? Today I want to break down what that looks like in the nitty gritty details of everyday life. Less stress:

  • Less looking for your keys as you're trying to rush out the door.

  • Less going to bed feeling overwhelmed by all the things you haven't gotten done.

  • Less clutter.

  • Less anxiety over piling up housework.

More peace:

  • More habits that keep you healthy and happy.

  • More time spent doing what's most important to you.

  • More joy from being in your home.

  • More confidence that you're living a good life.

The common thread between all of the above examples is intentionality.

Stress comes when there's no plan, and the day to day duties and activities you take part in are a reaction to your circumstances, rather than a plan that you yourself set in motion.

Peace comes from intentionality. While there are always unexpected happenings in life, a peace filled life anticipates the daily demands and makes an action plan.

A simple example is folding the laundry. The reactive, stressful response sees the laundry piling up and finally caves to spend the better part of a day running cycle after cycle of laundry. The intentional, peace filled response anticipates the need to run laundry and schedules a time to make it happen.

There's no way to live a life of complete intentionality. Unexpected things pop up every single day. But there are quite a number of routine, day to day needs that you can anticipate. Scheduling those chores into your day and week doesn't mean that you suddenly do laundry every single day, but it does mean that you have a plan to tackle the laundry and you are in control of when you choose to deal with the laundry.

That's why planning your days is such a foundational piece of a life of less stress. It helps you slow down and become intentional about where your time is going.


Here's your assignment for the week.
